Tending to the Pilot Light Open Crafting

Last week we had Open Crafting! The tables were covered with all sorts of mixed media supplies and we made some pretty cool pieces... here are some of the dolls from the previous week (more to come later) and some pics from this week:

This week we will be making Halloween Cards! I'm sure there's a niece or nephew, grandmother or sister who would LOVE to receive a handmade halloween card from you!

Come to my house and make as many as you like; I will provide orange and goldenrod greeting cards preprinted with "happy halloween" on the inside, holiday themed papers and lots of embellishments, paint, glitter, and plenty of ideas and of course, envelopes! If you have a specific idea in mind, go to the http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/ site for fantastic printable images. She has lots of great halloween themed, copyright-free images for use.  Note: I have downloaded most of them, processed them in photoshop and provided multiple copies in numerous sizes on high quality copy paper.

Enjoy an evening of card-making and camaraderie on Tuesday or Thursday from 7-9

General notes on Tending to the Pilot Light:

Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 at my home studio - 2211 Tennessee Street - Lawrence

Tending to the Pilot Light is an informal creativity session geared towards artists and non-artists alike. The evenings are designed to provide an opportunity to create successfully, safely, and with a specific focus. For the non-artist; it is a chance to work with your hands and feed that creative urge simmering beneath the surface. For working artists, it is a time to play with someone else's materials, and for all; it is an opportunity to commune with lovely, open-hearted, creative individuals.

I usually start out with a description of the project and what the purpose of the exercise is, show examples, explain the supplies and talk about variations and other materials available and can pull out if some one's project goes in a unique direction. I might work on the same project alongside you or may just make myself available for adhesive best practice advise, crafting techniques and brainstorming. Some projects are deep and self revelatory and others are just for fun.

If you have a show and tell project that you want feedback with, please bring it along and arrive a bit before seven so I can give you my full attention!

The two-hour sessions are $10/person, however I am super flexible and am willing to work out trades or service exchanges. You might also consider bringing a snack in lieu of payment, just call me to arrange!
